Mounting a volume refers to opening or making a connection to the TrueCrypt volume you created. Connection to these volumes is password protected. Once mounted, you can open files from the volume, save files to it, or delete files from it as you would with any other storage drive.
NOTE: Connection to a TrueCrypt volume is closed whenever you log off, restart, or shut down your computer.
Windows: From the Start menu, select All Programs » Utilities » TrueCrypt
Macintosh: Double click MACINTOSH HD » APPLICATIONS » TRUECRYPT
The TrueCrypt window appears.

From the scroll box, select an available drive
Click SELECT FILE...
The Select a TrueCrypt Volume dialog box appears.

Navigate to and select the TrueCrypt file container
Click OPEN
You are returned to the TrueCrypt window.
Click MOUNT
The Enter password for dialog box appears.

OPTIONAL: To view your password as you type it, select Display password
In the Password text box, type your password
Click OK
You are returned to the TrueCrypt window.
The volume information appears on the drive you selected.
Windows: Click EXIT
Macintosh: Click CLOSE
NOTES:
The volume is now available.
You can open files, save files, or delete files from it as you would with any other storage drive.
If you will not be logging off, but are done working with the files on the TrueCrypt volume, you should dismount (close) the volume.

The TrueCrypt window appears.

From the list, select the volume you want to dismount
Click DISMOUNT
NOTES:
The location information for the volume disappears.
Files on the volume are no longer accessible.
Windows: Click EXIT
Macintosh: Click CLOSE
