Outlook is effective because it combines many features within one program: email, calendaring, and contacts. This document provides an overview of some general tips for using Outlook 2003 and also provides resources for support.
Outlook can be easy to use and convenient because of the integration of its features.
Shortcuts, menu choices, and toolbars change to accommodate the current active feature. For example, when Calendar is open, [Ctrl] + [N] creates a new appointment entry; however, when Email is the active feature, [Ctrl] + [N] creates a new email message.
When closing an email message or schedule entry, you can use [Alt] + [F4], the shortcut normally associated with closing a program rather than a window. Or, from the File menu, select Close.
If you dislike the Reading Pane or do not want to use it for security reasons, you can turn it off. In addition, you can move it to the right or the bottom of the window.
If you need assistance while using Outlook, any of the following sources can assist you.
