This document contains general information regarding the Outlook Webmail environment. Reviewing the following sections will enable you to move easily through Outlook on the Web. This document is intended for Safari users. If you are using Internet Explorer, refer to The Outlook Environment-Internet Explorer.
The following graphic represents the basic parts of an Outlook Webmail window. As with many other programs, there are menus and toolbars along with a window displaying the active feature. Outlook has features unique to its environment: the Outlook Toolbar, the Outlook Navigation Pane , and the Folder Contents.

The Outlook Webmail toolbar contains buttons for common tasks. The buttons on the toolbar will change depending on what Outlook feature you are using. For a description of any button on the toolbar, simply rest your mouse over the button.
The Outlook Navigation pane contains icons representing Outlook Webmail features. Icons allowing access to your Mail and Calendar can be minimized. The Folder pull-down list provides access to existing folders and the Manage Folders link allows you to create additional folders.
The Folder Contents displays contents of folders.
The web version of Outlook uses several unique symbols. Review the following to learn about these special symbols. To learn more about Outlook Webmail icons, refer to Using the Toolbar: Safari .

| Importance | Indicates the level of importance that a sender attached to a message. A message may be sent as high or low importance with the corresponding symbol appearing next to the message. | |
| Type | Indicates what type of entry it is, such as unread or read email messages, or others, depending on what Outlook feature you are using. This symbol appears next to each message. | |
| Attachments | Appears next to messages containing an attachment. | |
| Reply | Appears next to each message that has been replied to. | |
| Forward | Appears next to each message that has been forwarded. |
