UWEC students have a Windows NT account that provides access to numerous resources through the computer and the servers. Macintosh users now have access to their NT accounts from many of the Macintosh general access computer labs. A program named DAVE is used to access your NT account and, ultimately, your SGS space (used for storing your Eudora files, Netscape bookmarks, and class files).
Additional information and tips for working with the SGS from Macintosh labs is available in the LTS Online Help collection.
Connecting to your SGS account with DAVE Access is a two-step process. First, you log on--this establishes the Command toolbar. Second, you complete the Mount a Volume dialog box. Both steps must be completed before you have access to your files.
NOTE: Before you begin the connection process, make sure that the last person logged off. If you see a desktop icon for the SGS account of another student you must log them off before you can log on. To do this, refer to the instructions for Logging Off and then continue with the following instructions:
From the Apple menu, select DAVE Access

From the Access menu, select Log On
The Network Logon dialog box appears.
In the User name text box, type your username
NOTE: This is the same as your email username.
In the Password text box, type your password
NOTE: Your password, unless you changed it, is UWEC+ four-digit pin#.
Verify that the Domain text box contains UWEC
NOTE: If it does not contain UWEC, type UWEC.
Click OK
Click OK
You will receive a confirmation message if log on is successful.
From the Access menu, select Mount a Volume...
The Mount a Volume dialog box appears.
In the Server text box:
If your last name begins with A-K, type sgs1
If your last name begins with L-Z, type sgs2
In the Share text box, type your username followed by a $ (dollar sign)
Example: username$
NOTE: There should not be a space between the username and the $.
Under Connecting Using, select DNS or IP
Click OK
NOTE: The Volume name text box is left blank.
To access your SGS account, double click the desktop icon which bears your username
It is important to log off after you are finished to protect your files and profile information.
NOTE: Remember to disconnect before you leave, or others may access your files.
From the Access menu, select Log Off
NOTES:
You will receive a confirmation message if log off is successful.
The desktop icon disappears.
Click OK
To quit DAVE Access, from the File menu, select Quit
This will change your NT password for all future access from both Macintosh and Windows workstations and for Eudora email. You must be logged on to change your password (refer to Logging On).
From the Access menu, select Change Password

The Change Password dialog box appears.
In the Old password text box, type your old password
In the New password text box, type your choice for a new password
