Using DAVE to Connect to Lucy

Macintosh users connecting to Lucy, the web server, require Dave to be installed on their computer. The following instructions walk you through logging on, connecting (mounting a volume) and logging off with Dave.

Accessing your network space with DAVE Access is a two-step process. First, you log on--this establishes the Command toolbar. Second, you complete the Mount a Volume dialog box. Both steps must be completed before you have access to your files.

Logging On

  1. From the Apple menu, select DAVE
    Network Logon dialog box

  2. From the Access menu, select Log On…
    The Network Logon dialog box appears.

  3. In the User name text box, type your username
    NOTE: This is the same as your email username.

  4. In the Password text box, type your password
    NOTE: Your password, unless you changed it, is uwec followed by a question mark (?) and your four-digit pin#.
    EXAMPLE: uwec?1234

  5. Verify that the Domain text box contains UWEC
    NOTE: If it does not contain UWEC, type UWEC.

  6. Click OK
    A UWEC dialog box appears.

Connecting to Your Space: Mount a Volume

  1. From the Access menu, select Mount Manually...
    The Mount a Volume dialog box appears.

  2. In the Server text box, type lucy

  3. In the Share text box, type the name of the share
    For your Lucy web space it is your account name followed by a $ (dollar sign)
    NOTES:  
    There should not be a space between the username and the $.
    The Volume name text box is left blank.

  4. Under Connecting Using, select DNS or IP

  5. Click OK
    A desktop icon for the share appears.

  6. To access the files on the share, double click the desktop icon for the share

It is important to log off after you are finished to protect your files and profile information.

NOTE: Remember to disconnect before you leave or others may access your files.

  1. From the Access menu, select Log Off
    NOTES:
    You will receive a confirmation message if log off is successful.
    The desktop icon disappears.

  2. Click OK

  3. To quit DAVE Access, from the File menu, select Quit
