Working with the Links Toolbar

Internet Explorer 7 provides several ways for you to access websites that you visit frequently.You may choose to save a link to a site in the Favorites Center, or to place it in the Links toolbar. The Links toolbar is located below the Address bar, and can be used for one-click access to sites that you visit frequently. Websites are added to the Links toolbar by dragging and dropping as described in this document.

The Links toolbar allows you to easily access websites. You may choose to display the Links toolbar as a full toolbar below the Address bar, or as a button allowing access to all your saved links. If the Links toolbar is not currently visible, you may need to display it.

  1. From the Command toolbar, click TOOLSTools button» select Toolbars » Links

Expanding the Links Toolbar

If your toolbars are not locked or are set to appear differently, the Links toolbar may be collapsed. If this is the case, it will appear on on the right side of the screen.

  1. From the right side of your screen, click and drag the Links toolbar handle until the toolbar is the desired size

    NOTE: If no handles appear, your toolbars may need to be unlocked.

Unlocking the Links Toolbar

If no handles appear to change the size or position of your toolbar, the toolbar may be locked.

  1. Click TOOLSTools button» select Toolbars » deselect Lock the Toolbars

You may choose to add either the current page or a link within the current page to the Links toolbar.

Adding the Current Page to the Links Toolbar

  1. Open the desired page

  2. In the Address bar, click and hold the website icon
    EXAMPLE: Click and hold the IE icon

  3. Drag the icon to the Links toolbar

  4. Release the mouse button

Adding a Link within the Page to the Links Toolbar

  1. Open the page containing the link

  2. Within the page, click and hold the link

  3. Drag the icon to the Links toolbar

  4. Release the mouse button

Renaming Links on the Links Toolbar

  1. From the Links toolbar, right click the link to be renamed » select Rename
    The Rename dialog box appears.

  2. In the New name text box, type the new name of your link

  3. Click OK

  1. From the Links toolbar, right click the link to be deleted » select Delete

  2. To confirm, click YES
    To cancel, click NO
    NOTE: Once a link is deleted it will be added to the Recycle Bin.

  3. Click CLOSE
