This document will walk you through the basics of sending, reading, deleting, and printing email messages in Entourage.
To send an email message in Entourage, follow these steps.
NOTE: If you are unsure of a University email address, you should use the Check Names feature. For more information on how to use this feature, refer to Sending an Email with the Check Names Feature.
From the Navigation pane, click MAIL![]()
On the toolbar, click NEW![]()
The address portion of the message appears.
In the To text box, type the email address of the person you are sending the message to
HINTS:
If you are sending messages to multiple people, use a comma ( , ) to separate the email addresses.
Pressing [tab] after you have entered an email address in the To text box, will allow you to toggle between the Cc and Bcc text boxes.
If you decide to remove a recipients email address, select the email address that you wish to remove and click REMOVE
.
Press [return]
The Message window appears.
In the Subject text box, type an appropriate subject line
Press [tab]
The insertion point appears in the body of the message.
In the body of the message, type the appropriate text
When you have finished typing, click SEND NOW![]()
The message is sent.
Some students have their email account and personal information excluded from the UWEC electronic directories. In these cases, you must use their complete email address (e.g., smithzz@uwec.edu) when addressing email messages to them. If you do not include @uwec.edu, Entourage will not recognize the email name.
From the Navigation pane, click MAIL ![]()
From the Folder list, select Inbox
Messages are displayed in the pane to the right.
Double click the message you wish to read
The message appears in its own window.
HINT: Unread messages appear as bolded in your Inbox.
When you have finished reading the message, close the window
OR
Delete the message
NOTES:
If you close the window, the message will remain in the Inbox folder and will no longer be bolded.
If you delete the message, the message will be sent to the Deleted Items folder. Messages sent to the Deleted Items folder will remain there, and can be retrieved from there, until such time when they are permanently deleted. For more information on deleting messages, refer to Email Messages: Deleting .
You can delete one message or a group of messages from your Inbox. You must select the message(s) before it can be deleted.
Select the first message to be deleted
Hold down the [shift] key
Select the last message to be deleted
Select the first message to be deleted
Hold down the Command key
Select the next item
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all messages to be deleted are selected
With the message(s) selected, complete one of the following actions:
Click DELETE![]()
OR
From the Edit menu, select Delete Message or Delete Group
OR
Press [delete]
If you have accidentally deleted a message, you can retrieve it from the Deleted Items folder if the folder has not been emptied since you deleted the item.
From the Navigation pane, click MAIL
From the Folder list, select Deleted Items
Select the message(s) you want to keep
Click and drag the message to the Inbox (on the Folder list)
In Entourage you can print a single email message or multiple email messages.
Open the message you want to print
From the File menu, select Print...
The Print dialog box appears.
Make the appropriate adjustments in the Print dialog box
Click PRINT
