Templates: Updating Pages Based on a Template

Dreamweaver allows you to make changes to all template-based web pages site-wide. When changes have been made to locked regions in a template, you have the option of updating these regions in all template-based web pages. This option is useful for making changes to a page header or any element that appears identically on every page.

  1. Open the template you wish to edit

  2. Make desired changes to any locked region
    NOTE: Only locked (non-editable) regions can be updated site-wide.

  3. From the File menu, select Save
     The Update Template Files dialog box appears asking if you would like to update all pages based on the template.

  4. Click UPDATE
    Dreamweaver scans all files in the site.
    When Dreamweaver has finished updating all pages based on the template, the Update Pages dialog box appears summarizing the actions taken.

  5. Click CLOSE
