The drawing markup tools (e.g., rectangles, ovals, arrows, lines) are helpful for labeling diagrams or emphasizing certain areas of an image. This document will define the drawing markup tools and take you through the steps to add drawing markups to your PDF.

| Draws a yellow callout box. | |
| Creates a cloud from a polygon that you draw. | |
| Draws a straight arrow. It also provides access to the Oval, Rectangle, Line, Cloud, Polygon, Polygon Line, Pencil, and Pencil Eraser Tools. | |
| Draws a double-sided arrow that can be used to suggest width or alignment. | |
| The Text Box Tool creates a yellow text box in which you can type text. | |
| Allows you to control what comments and markups are shown in your PDF. |
These instructions use an example of adding an Arrow.
Open the PDF document that you would like to markup
From the Tools menu, select Drawing Markups » Show Drawing Toolbar
The Drawing Markups toolbar appears.
From the toolbar, select the desired Drawing Markups tool
EXAMPLE: From the Drawing Markups toolbar, click the ARROW TOOL
Click or click and drag to create the desired markup
EXAMPLE: Click and drag until the arrow is of desired size.
OPTIONAL:
Once the desired markup is created, comments may be added
EXAMPLE: Double click the arrow and type comments in the Pop-up Note that appears.
These instructions use an example of adding a Dimensioning Arrow
Open the PDF document that you would like to markup
From the Tools menu, select Drawing Markups » select one of the available Drawing Markup tools
This tool is now selected for use on the PDF.
EXAMPLE: Select the Dimensioning Tool![]()
Click or click and drag to create the desired markup
EXAMPLE: Click and drag until the Dimensioning Arrow spans the desired area.
OPTIONAL: Once the desired markup is created, comments may be added.
EXAMPLE: Double click the Dimensioning Arrow and type comments where the cursor begins in the middle of the arrow.
HINT: There is no Pop-up Note for Dimensioning Tool comments, all text is visible in the center of the dimensioning arrow.
