Connecting to Network Drives

Connecting or mapping to a network drive is a shortcut for accessing a network connection that is not stored on your system. This gives you access on shared networks to other servers or drives (e.g., H: drive, W: drive, and Lucy).

return to topShared Network Folders

There are several common shared network drives. Letters shown for Drive are recommended. In most cases, other letters will work as long as the letter is not already in use. Folders are identified by first the name of the server (e.g., cass1) and then the name of the share (i.e., the portion allocated to that user group; e.g., deptdir).

Web publishing on the UW-Eau Claire Web is done through Lucy, a network web server. Three types of websites make up the UW-Eau Claire Web: department/office, curricular, and student organization sites. These sites are stored on the Lucy server. You can edit your web account from any networked computer on campus, but only if you have permission to do so.

These instructions show you how to use OS X to connect to Lucy on drive L.
