Target links are convenient and timesaving aspects to add to your web page. They allow instant connections to different sections within your page, as well as to other pages in your collection. With FrontPage, target links are very easy to create and maintain.
Creating target links with FrontPage is a two-step process: setting up a bookmark and linking to that bookmark.
The first step to creating a target link is setting a bookmark at the place you would like to link to.
Place the insertion point before the section you want to link to
From the Insert menu, select Bookmark
The Bookmark dialog box appears.
In the Bookmark name text box, type a name for the bookmark
HINTS:
Assigning meaningful names to your bookmarks will make pages more accessible and page maintenance easier.
Bookmark names should not contain spaces.
Click OK
A flag, which is also called a bookmark, appears next to the insertion point.
The second step of creating target links is setting a link from one place in your page to the spot you bookmarked.
Select the text or image that will become the link
NOTE: When turning text into a link, choose the text wisely; the text should be relevant to the link it represents, making your pages and links more accessible for all users.
From the Insert menu, select Hyperlink
The Insert Hyperlink dialog box appears.
From the Link to section, select Place in This Document
The Select a place in this document pane appears.

From the Bookmarks list, select the appropriate bookmark
Click OK
The link is created.
Target links are also helpful when linking to specific sections of other documents in your collection. Rather than simply linking to the page, you can link directly to the relevant section.
When linking to a section in another document, you need to include the file name of the document. If it is not in the same directory, include the path or URL. To this information, you can append the bookmark information for the section you are linking to. If there is not already a bookmark for the section in the document you are linking to, you must set the bookmark.
NOTE: If your document combines target links and links to other documents, avoid confusion by alerting the users in case they go outside of the current document.
Select the text or image that will become the link

There are many circumstances which may cause your bookmarks to need modification: you may decide not to reference a bookmarked section in your document any longer, you may merge sections of a document, or you may forget which section a particular bookmark refers to. The following instructions will help you to maintain your bookmarks.
The Go To feature allows you to verify the location of a bookmark.
From the Insert menu, select Bookmark...
The Bookmark dialog box appears.
From the Other bookmarks on this page scroll list, select the desired bookmark
Click GO TO
The screen jumps to the bookmarked section, while the Bookmark dialog box remains on the screen with the name of the bookmark in the Bookmark name text box.
OPTIONAL: To delete the bookmark, click CLEAR
Click OK
As you modify your page, your bookmarks may change. To keep your web page clean, you should remove any old, unused bookmarks.
Right click the desired bookmark » Bookmark Properties...
The Bookmark dialog box appears.
To delete the bookmark, click CLEAR
The bookmark disappears from the text.
NOTE: Be sure to remove any links which referred to this bookmark.
As your document changes over time, your target links may require updating. If you link to other documents, their location may change or become unavailable. The following instructions help you to maintain the links in your document in response to these types of changes. For additional information on maintaining links, refer to Testing & Maintaining Links.
