Sigma Gamma Epsilon
Sigma Gamma Epsilon (SGE) is the Earth Science Honors Society at UWEC. SGE is a student-run organization designed for students with an interest in the scholarship of geology. We meet ~ every other week (on Friday afternoons at 4 pm in Phillips 186 on those weeks when there is no talk scheduled for the Earth Science Seminar Series). At SGE meetings, UWEC students present their own research projects to a forum composed primarily of their fellow students. It is a chance for undergraduate students to get to know what research projects their classmates are doing, as well as to practice giving talks before upcoming meetings. In addition, SGE raises funds to help support student travel to regional, national, and international meetings, including meetings sponsored by the national SGE organization.
