The
One part commercial
block is a simple, one story box with a decorated facade, typical of
urban
places from the mid 19th to the mid 20th century. Most of these structures
were used as retail stores. Street frontages are narrow and the facades consist
usually only of plate glass windows and entrances surmounted by
cornices
or parapets. Small, wooden versions of this style have false-fronts,
a couple
of examples still survive in Eau Claire.
