Eau Claire: Bay Windows

Which part of the city has the majority of bay windows?
Why do you think they are located in that part of the city?

Windows which project out from the walls are called "bay windows."  They can vary from small--the size of a regular window--to one-story in height, usually on the first floor and on the most prominent side of houses.  Because they project beyond the wall, they have small roofs. Bay windows have been popular throughout the decades, as the wide distribution of these windows shows on the map.  Late 19th century houses frequently had several such windows and so the largest percentages occur in the oldest sections.

Other types of windows are  Dormer, Picture, and Normal.
