The
occupations of the residents of 7,106 houses in Eau Claire were collected from the Eau
Claire City Directories for each decade starting in 1910
and ending in 1980. The results are presented two
different ways: |

| 1) for a sample of individual streets and 2) by major occupational classes: | |||

occupational maps by city blocks. |
Major Occupational Classes
The individual occupations, e.g., truck driver, laborer, teacher, lawyer, etc.,
were grouped into three broad classes and ten
more detailed classes. The labels and corresponding codes used for the two
classifications are:
