The 20's
saw a dramatic growth in population and building projects. The automobile
became increasingly popular as indicated by the number of filling stations.
| 1920 | 3,327 women voted. This number equaled the number of voting men. |
| 1921 | The number of births was double the number of deaths. |
| 1925 | The Madison Street bridge was opened at a total cost of $240,000. |
| 1926 | $1.5 million was spent on construction projects. |
| 1926 | All city streets, 115 miles in total, were kept clear of snow. |
| 1926 | The city had 20 filling stations and 3,200 cars. |
| 1926 | Highway 12 between Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls was opened. |
| 1927 | The Masonic Temple was built on on the bank of the Chippewa
River. The Eau Claire State Normal School was renamed the State Teachers College. |
| 1927 | 140 new homes and 14 new factories were built. |
| 1928 | Sacred Heart Church was erected. |
