Eau Claire: Inexpensive Houses

Most of the inexpensive houses were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries when the bulk of the population had low incomes. With the economic boom after World War II, the income gap narrowed and allowed ordinary people to build larger houses; hence very small cheap houses were not built. Notice the particularly sharp decline of these inexpensive houses after the 1920s.
