Eau Claire: Small and Large
to Very Large Houses

Large to very large houses peaked in the 1870s and 1960s whereas small houses peaked in the 1920s.
The distribution of income during these two periods was very different:  much more uneven in the earlier decade than the latter one.  The tastes of the wealthy also changed from big and elaborate to smaller and simpler house styles.
