Eau Claire: Persons without Cars
In this current era few people live without cars, however there are
still a few who for whatever reason don't have cars- The University Area has the highest population (35-46%) without vehicles. This is due to the fact that students often don't have cars. Students also often live in the Randall Park, Westside and Bollinger Fields Areas and just walk or bike to school. Also many people who live and work in the Central Business District (CBD) or adjacent East Hill, Northside Hill and River Fronts don't own cars because of the convenient location near work. However, these areas are also populated by lower income persons who might not be able to afford a vehicle.
- Interestingly the 3rd Ward has a very low percentage (< 8%)of persons without vehicles. This is interesting because it is surrounded by neighborhoods without vehicles. This is due the fact that the 3rd Ward is populated with Professionals who work in other parts of the Eau Claire area and need and are able to afford vehicles.
