Eau Claire: 2 Person Households by Block Group Based on 2000 Census Data

 Thirty-five of the block groups shown on this map have from 30%-42% of their population listed as a two person household.  Many of these older neighborhoods are home to middle age and/or elderly couples whose children have left the household.  A few of the higher density areas may be home to young couples who have yet to have any children, found mainly in the higher density areas with lots of newer apartment buildings.  The areas around Water Street and the east side of the Chippewa River have very little (from 17%-29%) numbers of two person households.  This is because these areas are largely college students renting larger homes that may have several to a house.  It is less common to find a two bedroom apartment in these areas than an efficiency apartment or a three or four bedroom house.
