Eau Claire: Population With Retirement and Social Security Income

The majority (32.58-42.62 percent) of Eau Claire's population with a retirement income is concentrated in two block groups that have retirement homes and appartment buildings.  Many (20-32.58 percent) live in the suburbs closer to Altoona.  According to the 2000 Census of Population and housing the retirement income includes: (1) retirement pensions and survivor benefits from a former employer; labor union; or federal, state, or local government; and the U.S. military; (2) income from workers compensation; disability income from companies or unions; federal, state, or local government; and the U.S. military; (3) periodic receipts from annuities and insurance; and (4) regular income from IRA and KEOGH plans. This does not include social security income.

Eau Claire's population with a social security income is located in the same areas as its retirement income.  The majority (50-70 percent) of the population with a social security income are located in the same two block groups as the retirement income.  There are also many people in the suburbs going towards Altoona, but the numbers are not as concentrated as the retirement income.
