The majority (32.58-42.62 percent) of Eau Claire's population with a
retirement income is concentrated in two block groups that have
retirement homes and appartment buildings. Many (20-32.58 percent)
live in the suburbs closer to Altoona. According to the 2000
Census of Population and housing the retirement income includes:
(1) retirement pensions and survivor benefits from a former employer;
labor union; or federal, state, or local government; and the U.S.
military; (2) income from workers compensation; disability income from
companies or unions; federal, state, or local government; and the U.S.
military; (3) periodic receipts from annuities and insurance; and (4)
regular income from IRA and KEOGH plans. This does not include social
security income.Eau Claire's population with a social security
income is located in the same areas as its retirement income.
The majority (50-70 percent) of the population with a social security
income are located in the same two block groups as the retirement
income. There are also many people in the suburbs going towards
Altoona, but the numbers are not as concentrated as the retirement
income. |
