Maps of Mormon Landscape Elements

Although only 150,000 Mormons initially settled in Utah, the Mormon presence created a distinctive Mormon landscape. The distribution and concentration of Mormon landscape elements described on the previous page are shown on the left-hand map. Hurd and Larson re-surveyed Mormon settlements in 2000 and added more features to classify towns. Compare the two maps for changes. Visit Spring City, an historic-designated Mormon village, and Levan -- both villages have the most Mormon landscape features. What cut offs would you make to draw the boundaries for the Mormon core, domain, and sphere?
