| The topographic map assignment that deals with Vercheres,
Quebec Province (1:50,000), shows
very interesting things about the French Canadian landscape.
Michaudville lies on the southern border of the area in which you are to draw the field lines based on the location of farmsteads and cuts in the woodlands, which do NOT appear on the map below. The school which is shown on the map had been converted to a private residence in 1997. Have a look at the Catholic church and parish house; the sign indicates that three parishes (St. Jude, St. Louis, and St. Bernard) were being served by this one church in 1997.
In 1997, Michaudville had been renamed St. Bernard! The Quebec government, with its separatist political agenda, established four agencies with annual budgets of $24 million to replace English words, commercial signs, and street and settlement names with French ones by 1990. On 1 January 1993, the 11,000 Stop/Arret signs in Montreal were replaced with Arret-only signs for $600,000.
