The topographic map assignment that deals with Vercheres, Quebec Province (1:50,000), shows very interesting things about the French Canadian landscape. Saint-Denis lies on the Richelieu River and it is a typical small urban French-Canadian settlement. The buildings of the Roman Catholic church dominant the village, which only has one store and several bed and breakfast lodgings -- the lack of stores is typical for the smallest urban places in Quebec.
