Plantation Domestic Slave Quarters
Domestic, or house slaves, generally received better housing,
clothing,
and food than field slaves. The cook, who had the highest
status among the
house slaves, and her husband, the carriage driver, lived in this house.
It even
has its own privy!
What does the inside of this slave
quarter look like? What do you expect to
find?
