Las Vegas: The Strip --southern section

The topographic map shows The Strip from about Flamingo Rd to Reno Ave. Las Vegas  has 11 of the 13 largest hotels in the world, surpassing Orlando, FL, in the number of hotel/motel rooms. In 1993, 23.5 million visitors spent more than $15.1 billion. In 1996, visitors totaled 29 million, with 3 million conventioneers attending 3,000 conventions. More incredible statistics on gambling in Las Vegas that you could not image! The Bellagio Casino provides an "alternative to Paris" with its $300 million fine art collection, of such masters as Van Gogh, Monet, and Renoir, plus 12 restaurants. At the Bellagio Casino, 27 million gallons of water dance to tunes through choreographed nozzles in an 8-acre artificial lake! The nearby Hoover Dam provides Colorado River water to Las Vegas, which uses more than double the water of other USA cities. [Source: NGS, September 2002]
