Tourists don't explore the "ordinary" places of Las Vegas -- places that Las Vegas shares with other U.S. cities -- but geographers do! The Hispanic population is concentrated on the northeast side (16 percent of Las Vegas city); more in the separate city of North Las Vegas city (22 percent). In metropolitan Las Vegas, Hispanics account for 11 percent.

up to keep the house cool and save on air-conditioning costs.
Housing in the poor parts of the barrio have
a distinctive characteristic: most residential lots have
wire-fences. Businesses in the barrio
are also clearly distinguishable.
