Kentucky Horse
Farms Nearly two centuries ago, Kentucky's equine industry was started. More than 200,000 acres of Kentucky farmland are used for horse breeding, mostly for Thoroughbreds but also for Standardbreds, Arabians, Morgans, and Saddlebreds. About 7,000 horses are born in the state each year. In 1995, 8,170 horses were sold in Lexington for more than $367 million. One of the best routes through this equine landscape is a five-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 68-- Paris Pike--nicknamed Millionaire's Row.
