A border checkpoint just north of Columbus, NM.
These checkpoints, sometimes temporary and other times permanent,
are located about 30 to 50 miles in the interior all along the international
border, whether in California or Texas. Border patrol agents ask about
citizenship, which of course U.S. citizen can not prove (the U.S. has not
national identification card, and birth certificates and passports are not
required to be carried within the USA).
