Greenfield Village in Dearborn,
Michigan, was started in 1929 by Henry Ford to show case mainly U.S.
technological progress; hence, the emphasis on sorts of machinery and
innovations, including his own develops of the model T car. Some of the historic
buildings show ordinary 19th-century life in small towns and on southern
plantations. Walt Disney toured Greenfield Village to get ideas for his
Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, California, which opened in 1955.
