Solvang, CA, was settled in 1911 by a group of Danish educators. The original typical Danish church from 1828 is still standing.
Danish features include half-timbered, or as the English call it Tudor, buildings, white-washed, stepped facades, fake thatched roofing, artificial storks on roof tops, gaslights, Danish flags, royal crests, and names.
