Topography & Tea Production

Tea production requires special geographical locations.
On which slopes is it grown and at which elevations?
What is grown in the flood plain?
Why are the villages concentrated in the lower slopes?

Answers:

• upper slopes, from 1,000 to 2,000 meters above sea level

• flood plains: rice cultivation because it must be irrigated with water which is drawn directly from rivers or raised by hand or machines

• lower slopes: villages are out of the flood plain where the land will be flooded periodically; the gardens are around the houses where people can use the vegetables and spies
