West Africa Housing of the Poor
Much of the urban population in the capital of Burkina Faso lives in home-made housing on the outskirts of the city.

What evidence indicates this to be a very poor part of town?

Answers:

  • the street is impassable, except by foot;

  • stones and mud are used to build abode walls, which are poorly maintained;

  • open sewers; and

  • no running water in the houses.
