What do the symbols "Ch" and "Mkt" stand for? What minerals are being exported?

Answers:

  • English and Spanish

  • England and Spain

  • England; English is the official language

  • H = hotel; 7 (coastal edge occupied by tourists, mainly from the United States)

  • Ch = church

  • Mkt = market
These land use activities indicate where the Jamaicans who work principally in the tourist industry live. They are employed by the hotels, resorts, shops, and restaurants.  They also sell stuff, such as home-made coconut oil, sun lotion, and fruits.

  • bauxite, shipped out of the country by ships -- some of it going across the Atlantic to Ghana, because it has cheap electricity from hydro-electric projects paid for by Canadian foreign aid.
