| The high-rise hotels, from
which the falls and river can be seen, and the two-mile long amusement,
restaurant, shopping, and cheaper hotels/motels strip indicate that this natural
wonder has become a major tourist destination for families and honeymooners. |

| The Niagara escarpment, over which
the Niagara River falls, runs along the western edge of Lake Ontario and
continues to Door County, Wisconsin. The mild micro-climate (lake effect)
and the fertile lake plain and escarpment top allows tender fruits, such as
beaches, plums, grapes, and cherries, to be grown here as in
other Great Lakes tender fruit areas, such as Door County. Fresh fruit stands and
wineries abound in this area. |
