Portugal: Manor Houses of Mateus |
|||
Casa
de Mateus is a splendid manor house from the flamboyant 18th-century
Baroque era. The house is still depicted on the well-known Portuguese Mateus
Rose wine bottles, although the manor house is now independent from the
winery. |

In back of the manor house are the threshing floor with rolling pin and the sheds in which the grain was stored. The son of Mateus had a much smaller manor house across the valley. Look at it! |
