Portugal: Manor Houses of Mateus
Casa de Mateus is a splendid manor house from the flamboyant 18th-century Baroque era. The house is still depicted on the well-known Portuguese Mateus Rose wine bottles, although the manor house is now independent from the winery.

Stables are found just off the inner courtyard which leads to the formal gardens.

In back of the manor house are the threshing floor with rolling pin and the sheds in which the grain was stored.

The son of Mateus had a much smaller  manor house across the valley. Look at it!
