Portugal: Ericeira -- Fishing Village
Fishing villages still dot the west coast of Portugal. Ericeira maintains its fishing character  although it is now surrounded by huge resort developments for summer visitors, who soar to 30,000.  Whitewashed houses perch high above the harbor where tractors  drag (once, oxen) the small fishing boats on shore. Most of the fish is sold fresh but some of it is dried.
The Algarve has two coastlines and types of beaches: 1) sandy, low-lying beaches are found on the south coast and 2) steep cliffs and beach coves are on the west coast. The cliffs shown are from S. Vicente on the western most point of Europe.
