 Welsh Signs
With the devolution (since 1998) of political power
(to make domestic laws
and policies, collect some taxes, etc.) in the United
Kingdom (to Wales, Scotland, and even northern Ireland),
regional distinctions -- and frequently peaceful and even violent
separatists movements -- are re-emerging throughout the European Union. 1.5 million people live in Wales: 20-25 percent speak
Welsh and 50 percent live in coastal towns, such as Conwy.
