Clough Williams-Ellis built Portmeirion from 1925 to 1975 on his own private
peninsula on the coast of Snowdonia in Wales to demonstrate how a naturally
beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it.
Portmeirion Pottery was established
by Susan Williams-Ellis and Euan Cooper-Willis in 1960.
