A village in Zimbabwe
The
landscape looks
brown because it is the dry, winter season, although it is July -- we are in
the Southern Hemisphere! Mr. Johnson show us around the village for which
he is the "headman." The village has only one well for about 50
households, each with from 5 to 10 persons. Some families have vegetable
gardens next to the well. Mud bricks are made immediately next to the
village where they are used for the walls of houses, historically round but
today more commonly rectangular. Family compounds are fenced off as are the
livestock kraals. Also visit a school.
