Portugal: Son of Mateus'Manor House
The son of Mateus also had  a splendid manor house from the flamboyant 18th-century Baroque era -- but on a much smaller scale!
Through a stone gate, a long lane leads through the woods to the house, which is attached on the left to a small church by an open arched walkway. In back is the ivy covered carriage house with an attached kitchen -- indicated by the pyramidal chimney. A bread oven and the open hearth are found "within" the chimney. The stone threshing floor is in front of the back buildings. A 1933 granite corn crib with metal strips is located on the edge of the farmstead.
