 | Bom Jesus do Monte is Portugal's most spectacular religious sanctuary. In 1722 the Archbishop of Braga devised the Baroque stairway; it was finished in 1811.The steep Sacred Way has 14 Stations of the Cross. Each chapel has life-size terra-cotta figures from Christ's last journey. The figures from the Chapel of the Descent from the Cross is shown. |  |
