Portugal: Historic Villages -- Piodao

	Piodao is the most striking of the schist and slate villages in the Serra de Acor. Funds from the European Union have been used to restore this very isolated village. It took us most of a day driving the curved, steep, and narrow roads through this bleak beauty countryside. The bright white church stands out against the dark stone village. Only a few of the houses are stuccoed and have red-tiled roofs.
