Udaipur City Palace is actually several palaces built
between the 16th and 20th centuries. The palaces are now a museum and a hotel. The
last ruler lasted until 1955. The wealth of these rulers is reflect in
the architectural styles, marble carvings, glass decorations
(lamps from Belgium), and European furnishings. Horses
represented power whereas elephants were equated with wealth.
Rajasthan is famous for its miniature paintings, a sample of which is
shown in the last two photos.
