Crossing from Germany to Czech Republic, young women in tight-fitting mini-dresses, high heels, and lots of make-up stand along the rural roads and along the main streets of the border towns. Who are they? Read about them. |
They are prostitutes, mostly from Russia,
Ukraine, and Romania, working as close to the European Union as possible
(with its higher incomes). Prostitutes are voluntarily and, sometimes
forcefully, working illegally in the EU. Prostitutes were standing on
the road by this roadside souvenir stand. Germans
and Austrians are selling cheap alcohol, brightly colored
glass balls, and figurines -- many are naked and sexual indecent. Most
of the vendors are Vietnamese who were sent to Czech Republic as laborers
to pay off the debt of the government of Vietnam for buying manufactured
goods from Czech Republic before the collapse of the Iron Curtain. |
