Why Support the Marching Band?

The Blugold Marching Band is one of the biggest marching bands in the Midwest, having grown from 60 to 300 members in the past 10 years. In the past 6 years, the Blugold Marching Band has taken three international performance tours and has performed at such notable venues as the Roman Coliseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Eiffel Tower. In 2014, the Blugold Marching Band will represent UW-Eau Claire on their tour of Southeast Asia. With the rapid increase in the size of the band and its many possibilities to represent UW-Eau Claire nationally and internationally, the band relies on private support from alumni and friends to play on!

BMB Chair Endowment

Robert and Marsha (Zuehlke) Steffen, graduates from 1968 and 1969, met while participating in the Symphonic and Blugold Marching bands. They married and have made beautiful music since! In addition to donating two beautiful displays which tell the history of the renovated Schofield Auditorium, they have created a new gift category which will help ensure the BMB continues to have important funding long into the future. The Blugold Marching Band Chair Endowment was created to build long term financial support to help with some of the items listed above, and support maintaining the best faculty and staff in the nation. Imagine the impact that could be made at the university and student level if all 300+ chairs were endowed! It is a significant investment, though a perpetual gift legacy for you and future Blugolds who may have similar experiences as Robert and Marsha. Our marching band needs your help; consider endowing your own personal BMB chair today.

“When I joined the Blugold Marching Band, I could not have asked for a better introduction to college life.  The marching band has brought me across the country and even the world. My friends that I have met in BMB are my best friends and I will keep them for life.  I would not trade my experience in the band or at UWEC for anything.”
