EAU CLAIRE - Ruder Ware, Wisconsin's 11th largest law firm, and the UW-Eau Claire Foundation have established two outstanding alumni service awards to honor community leader and volunteer David Anderson.

Anderson, who is a 1966 UW-Eau Claire graduate, outgoing UW-Eau Claire Foundation board chair and vice chair of Ruder Ware, was recognized at the UW-Eau Claire Foundation's annual board meeting this fall. The awards, established in Anderson's name, will recognize two outstanding UW-Eau Claire alumni who demonstrate significant commitment to community service and will be given at the university's Service-Learning Recognition Breakfast in the spring.

Lon Roberts, president of Ruder Ware, said Anderson, who has been a community leader for nearly 40 years, is to be commended for all that he has done in the community and for UW-Eau Claire.

"Dave represents the finest in our firm's tradition of public service and support of institutions which make our communities and our state a great place to live and work," Roberts said. "We think these service awards reflect Dave's lifelong commitment to the university in Eau Claire, the university system statewide and the promotion of educational opportunity for all young people seeking higher education."

The David Anderson Community Builder award will honor an alumnus who has made a career working in the non-profit sector. A $250 gift will be made in honor of the recipient to that person's non-profit employer. The David Anderson Community Service award will recognize an alumnus for continued commitment to community service and volunteerism. A $250 contribution will be made to a charity of the recipient's choice.

"It's fitting that these awards will be made at the university's Service-Learning Recognition Breakfast," said Carol Halberg, president of the Eau Claire Foundation. "UW-Eau Claire is one of the few public universities in the nation to require every student to complete at least 30 hours of community service. Dave personifies community service and is a role model for current and future students."
