Dominique Thévenin, a native of the Picardy region, received a Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie in Documentation et Sciences de l’Information from Besançon University (France). After having taught French in Austria for two years, she came to America to study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she received her A.M. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. She joined the French faculty at UWEC in 1987 and has been teaching all level of languages, cinema, contemporary civilization and literature. Her research deals mostly with pedagogical issues, especially the teaching of civilization which she believes to be an invaluable course to make well-rounded students. She also has an interest in the contemporary French novel and writes regular book reviews for The French Review. Her many interests include cooking, gardening, going to concerts, films and plays, painting, reading and traveling.
