What is Non-Federal Student Employment?
Non-Federal Student Employment allows students to work on-campus under a non-federal work account. This employment is NOT based on need. This employment is intended to allow students to earn money to help pay for their educational expenses and encourages students to gain valuable career-related experience.
How do I become eligible for the Non-Federal Student Employment?
Any student is eligible for Non-Federal Student Employment. A student is considered to be anyone enrolled in at least one credit of course work.
How do I locate a Non-Federal job?
It is your responsibility to find employment. Vacancies may be located through use of the Job Placement Board located across from the Financial Aid Office in Schofield Hall and by attending the Student Employment Job Fair held on one of the first few days of the fall semester. Current UW-Eau Claire Federal and Non-Federal Work Study jobs and other student employment opportunities are also posted on the the Financial Aid website.
How many hours can I work and how much can I earn?
Students may work a maximum of forty hours per week. When determining hours per week, an employer will consider your class schedule as well as their own employment needs. There is not a limit on how much a student may earn in the Non-Federal Student Employment program.
Students are paid hourly for the work they perform. Timesheets are submitted to Payroll biweekly by the employer. Students will have their payments directly deposited to their savings or checking accounts. Direct deposit forms can be completed by accessing www.uwec.edu/hr/forms.htm.
