Recycling/Sustainability

The university provides recycling services for a number of everyday items. Use the guide below to find out what items the university is currently recycling. Please remember to never put trash or food in the recycling bins, as this will contaminate the materials and render them un-recyclable.

Recyclable Items:

  • Paper (paperclips and staples are ok)
    • Printer and notebook paper
    • Colored Paper
    • Junk mail
    • Newspaper
    • Magazines/catalogs
    • Post-it notes
    • Paper grocery bags
    • Envelopes
    • Phone books
  • Co-Mingled
    • Aluminum cans (please crush)
    • Aluminum foil
    • Plastic (#1 & #2) with necks
    • Tin cans
    • Glass jars and bottles (all colors)
  • Cardboard
    • Corrugated boxes
    • Pop/beer bases
    • Cereal boxes
    • Shoe boxes
  • Miscellaneous
    • Toner cartridges (need to be in a bag or box)
    • Light bulbs
    • Ni-Cad batteries
    • Scrap metal

Non-Recyclable Items:

    • Tissue/Bathroom paper
    • Paper towels
    • Paper cups and plates
    • Napkins
    • Wax-coated paper

    • Books (hard or soft cover with glue binding)

    • Tupperware/chemical bottles
